2 rail-road bridges on Ganga to complete by Jun 30: Sinha

Varanasi (BSB): Union Minister of state for Railways Manoj Sinha today announced that two major rail-road bridges on river Ganga in Bihar would be completed by June 30.

The two bridges would connect Patna-Sonepur and Munger-Jamalpur rail sections and finishing touches is being given by the engineers on both the bridges, the Minister said. He said that after opening of these two rail-road bridges, rail and road traffic in Bihar would be more smoother and the distance would also be curtailed.

The Patna- Sonepur rail-road bridge is 4556 meter long and 10 meters breadth connecting Digha Ghat and Pahleja ghat in Sonepur. The bridge started in 2003 after much politics over it and it was delayed due to land acquisition problems. After the commencement of this bridge, the traffic conjunction between Patna and Hajipur through Mahatma Gandhi Setu would ease out. The second bridge in North Bihar is of 3190 meter long and 12 meter breadth connecting Munger-Jamalpur rail-road over Ganga and the work started in 2002
