This was informed on Thursday by the outgoing Divisional Railway Manager of Pune railway division, Vishal Agarwal, who has been transferred to Central Railway headquarters in Mumbai.

He will be replaced by Suneet Sharma, who will take charge on Friday.

Agarwal told reporters that the 44 new CCTV cameras would replace the 36 that Pune station already has, which would be shifted to Shivaji Nagar and Kolhapur railway stations.

According to him, the long-pending work of construction of the new DRM building at Raja Bahadur Mill road will be completed by October this year.

“The construction of this building is over. The new DRM office would be ready latest by December,” added Agarwal.

The project was planned way back in 2006 but was delayed due to lack of funds.

“There is currently no problem of funds as they have been sanctioned and the work will be completed soon,” claimed Agarwal.

Apart from the new DRM building, the tender for construction of a foot-over bridge connecting platforms one, two and three at the Pune railway station has been finalised and work will start after the rains, stated the DRM.

He said that the electrification work on the Pune-Daund route is 30 per cent complete.
