Pune: On 1st Nov. 2015, Indian Railway Institute of Civil Engineering (IRICEN) celebrated its 58thIRICEN day.
A special function, to mark the occasion, presided by chief guest Shri S.S. Narayanan, Additional Member (Civil Engineering), Railway Board saw number of dignitaries from allover Indian Railways. The Officers of 1989 batch, who are accomplishingfeat of serving 25 years (Silver Jubilee Batch) of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) were felicitated on this occasion.
On the occasion, Shri Vishwesh Chaubey, Director of IRICEN highlighted various initiatives taken by IRICEN to keep engineers spread all over the countryupdated with the latest developments. He also mentioned that over the years IRICEN has been instrumental in producing a large pool of highly qualified Engineers and leaders and has ensuredself-relianceof Indian Railway in the field of transport sector. Adoption of state of art aids and modern methods by IRICEN have helped newer generation with better learning leading to better contribution to the society at large.
Indian Railways, as desired by Hon’ble Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi, is now laying more stress on training of personnel and there has been whopping increase of 71%, in number of Trainees during current year. The training of officials from various organizations like Dedicated Freight Corporation (DFCCIL), National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), and Engineers from Bangladesh Railway etc. is a step in the direction of larger contribution to the society. It also indicates the confidence in this institution.
The chief guest Shri S.S.Narayanan, Additional Member (Civil Engineering), Railway Board during his address congratulated all Civil Engineers and Awardees and Silver Jubilee Batch Officers. He expressed happiness that the SavitribaiPhule Pune University (SPPU), one of the leading Indian University, has recognized the IRSE probationers training for grant of Master’s Degree (M.Tech).
Shri S.S.Narayanan, awarded medals and trophies to outstanding officers of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) 2011 batch & Group “B” officers promoted from ranks.
The awardees also included four outstanding IRSE officers of 2011 batch, Ms. Mansi Mittal, Shri B.K. Sajja, Shri Amit Kumar Gupta and Shri Jiban Jyoti Sahoo.
He also released Six technical books published by IRICEN, which included a new technical book written in Hindi on “Quality Control in Track Linking”. He also released a compilation of instructions that can be used as ready reckoner by the Engineers in field.
To mark the occasion a theme-based seminar was also organized covering topics of importance“Fast paced infrastructure development on Indian Railway” and “Mechanization in track construction and maintenance”. The recommendations of this seminar would make significant impact in policy decisions being made by Railways in the years to come.
