60th Railway Week to be celebrated on South Central Railway

New Delhi: The Indian Railways will be celebrating the 60th Railway Week from 10th to 16th April, all over its network.  The celebrations are held in commemoration of the first train run on Indian soil on 16th April, 1853 from Boribunder to Thane. Since then, Indian Railways has come a long way off to earn the image of being the life line of the nation.

The South Central Railway will be holding the 60th Railway Week Celebrations all over its jurisdiction from 10th till 16th April. As a part of the same, the main Zonal Railway Week celebrations will be held on Friday at Rail Kalarang, Bhoiguda, Secunderabad. SCR General Manager P.K.Srivastava will address the gathering on the performance achievements of SCR during the fiscal year 2014-15 and present the annual awards to the Divisions and Individuals in recognition of their exemplary performance / achievements during the year. Efficiency performance shields will be presented to the Divisions in various disciplines while Merit Certificates will be presented to individual awardees.

In tune with the celebrations, a “Rail Exhibition” will be inaugurated by the SCR GM at Secunderabad Railway Station (Bhoiguda Side) on 10th April. The Exhibition will offer a glimpse of the Rail Heritage of Indian Railways for viewers.

The 60th Railway Week celebrations will also be held at all the Divisional Headquarters, Workshops etc., Like wise awards will also be presented at Divisional, Workshops, Departmental levels during the week.
