Agra: In a bid to provide round-the-clock surveillance at one of the busiest and most travelled stations on north central railway (NCR) division, Indian railways is now going to install integrated security system (ISS) with day and night high resolution cameras on five prominent stations including Agra cantt, Mathura, Allahabad, Kanpur and Jhansi.
The installation of ISS will begin from Agra cantt station which handles 3,02,55,000 passengers in a year and later it will be followed by Allahabad , Kanpur, Jhansi and Mathura.
In the first phase, Agra cantt station will be equipped with cameras and later with metal detectors and luggage x-ray scanners.
Bhupinder Dhillon PRO of Agra Division, “total 54 cameras will be installed at Agra cantt station, which will keep 24 hours hawk eye on the station and outer upto 400 meters which is infamous for robberies.”
“The entire security system will be connected to one command control center, which will be managed by Railway Police Force personnel. Since Agra is major hub for tourism, where on average more than 220 trains makes halt per day including the ultra-luxurious trains such as The Maharaj express and The Deccan Odyssey, the ISS will be install by next month,” she said.
At present Agra cantt station had six CCTV cameras on four platforms and parking lot along with high masts at outer areas of Agra cantt station which is managed by GRP men.
Recently in a bid to upgrade the standard of station to world class stations, a second escalator was installed on platform two of Agra cantt but still has not been opened for public.
