Kozhikode: The Kozhikode Railway police on Wednesday quizzed the civil police officer who is under suspension for misplacing his service pistol.
Civil police officer of City Armed Police R Reghu said that the pistol was stolen from him and denied any connections with Rafeeq, from whom the pistol was recovered by the Railway police.
During the interrogation by a team led by Kozhikode Railway police sub-inspector P Muraleedharan, Reghu said that he had met Rafeeq in the general compartment of Malabar Express train on Sunday.
Reghu said that he boarded the train from Kanhangad to reach here and fell asleep soon. Rafeeq was sitting next to him.
Reghu said that he became aware of the missing pistol when he opened the bag to have drinking water when the train reached Ernakulam. He claimed that he had reported the matter to the AR Camp authorities when he reached here.
Rafeeq, a history-sheeter, landed in police custody, after he was found in an inebriated condition on the railway platform.
The probe team will verify Reghu’s statement with Rafeeq to decide whether Reghu should be arraigned as an accused in the case.
