Bomb Scare fails to derail Southern Railway’s “59th Railway Week Celebrations”

Chennai चेन्‍नई (MAS):  Information about a bomb inside the Rajah Annamalai Mandram premises created tense moments, as the 59th Railway Week Celebrations of the Southern Railway was scheduled to take place.

Information about a bomb inside the Rajah Annamalai Mandram premises created tense moments on Friday, as the 59th Railway Week Celebrations of the Southern Railway was scheduled to take place at the venue. A bomb detection squad was pressed into service.

According to a police official, sniffer dogs were deployed and the venue was thoroughly checked after a caller informed that a bomb was planted at the venue. However, it was later found to be a hoax and the event began as scheduled

At the event, Rakesh Misra, General Manager, Southern Railway, said, the Southern Railway registered its best ever-performance in the financial year 2013-14, surpassing targets. He said, the passenger segment achieved a growth of 16 per cent over last year.
