Chandigarh (CDG): An organized racket behind the leakage of question paper of Group-D exam of Northern Railway was unearthed and six beneficiaries were apprehended by cyber cell of Chandigarh Police.
The six arrested beneficiaries include Narender, Kuldeep, Deepak of Jhajjar, Devender, Gulab of Rohtak and Dalbir Singh of Sonepat. They were apprehended in the middle of the examination and an FIR against all of them was registered on Sunday night.
All were apprehended in the examination centre in Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), sector 46.
The exam was being conducted on December 8 at different examination centres in the city by Railway Recruitment Board. Cops seized four cell phones and coded microphotostate slips from the possession of accused.
Five accused Narender, Kuldeep, Deepak, Gulab and Dalbir were remanded in two days police custody and Devender was sent to judicial custody in Model Burail Jail on Monday.
DSP (cyber cell) Rajesh Kalia said, “A secret information was received about the leakage of question paper of Group D exam of railway board through SMSs on the cell phones and six beneficiaries have been identified prior the beginning of exams outside GMSSS-46. A raid along with railway board officials was conducted and six accused were caught red-handed while using coded slips for cheating.”
Interestingly, four of the accused had deleted the SMS of particular questions before entering the examination centre and investigators have not found any text message related to leak questions in cell phones.
Police sources said the cell phones will be sent to CFSL-36 for retrieving the deleted messages. Police officials said six beneficiaries were not aware about the kingpin of racket and obtained the messages of question paper through middlemen. A case against all of them was registered at sector 34 police station.
