Case against 3 GRP Cops for looting Train Passengers

BHOPAL (BPL): The Government Railway Police (GRP) registered a case against three constables on Sunday, who were on escort duty on Tapti-Ganga Express, for allegedly looting cash and valuables from passengers in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh.

After the train reached the Satna railway station on Saturday passengers staged a demonstration demanding action against the constables. The three accused cops are on the run.

Passengers had complained that the constables had boarded general coach of Tapti-Ganga Express which plies between Surat (Gujarat) and Chhapra (Bihar) near Satna railway station on Saturday. They allegedly collected money and took away cell phones from passengers threatening them that they would be de-boarded if their tickets and identity proofs were not found in order.

Additional director general of police, Railways, M S Gupt said that a case has been registered on the complaint of a passenger that GRP personnel took away money from his pocket on the pretext of checking his ticket.

“I have asked the GRP, SP, Jabalpur to register the offence and identify the accused,” Gupt said.
