Cases of illegal travel on the rise in Pune division

PUNE: Cases of illegal travel in the Pune railway division went up in 2012-13, with as many as 36,000 more cases registered at prominent railway stations and in trains as against last year, a railway official said.

Railway authorities registered as many as 1.62 lakh cases in 2012-13, compared to 1.26 lakh cases last year. Fines worth Rs.8.18 crore were collected in these cases. Most of the cases were of ticketless travel, travel with invalid tickets and unbooked luggage.
