One of China’s largest state-owned construction companies, China Railway sets to name Meng Fengchao as its head.
Meng Fengchao, current President and Communist Party Secretary of China Communications Construction Group (CCCG), is likely to be named as the chairman of China Railway Construction Corporation Ltd. (CRCC), according to a source familiar with situation.
China’s state-owned regulator has formed a team to select the successor of Meng in CCCG. The three-day review process will begin on August 3, according to the source.
Meng, 51, has worked for nearly 26 years in the transportation industry. From 2000 to 2004, he served as the vice president of China Railway Engineering Corporation, one of China’s largest railway infrastructure contractors. Meng was named as the president of CCCG from December 2005 to August 2006. He had served as CCCG’s vice chairman, executive director and president since September 2006.
China Railway Construction Corporation Ltd., China’s largest project contractor, was established on November 5, 2007 in Beijing and is one of the core construction corporations under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.
