The senior inspector of Dadar GRP, Prakash Kirdutt, said the report had been dispatched to the divisional railway manager’s office on Saturday, but it had closed for the day. The accused-GD Patil (50), AV Pereira (56) and Girish Shroff (53)-are employed with railway workshops at Matunga and Parel. On Thursday, the victim boarded a local from Kalyan. On Thursday, the victim was climbing an FOB at Matunga, around 6.30 am, when the accused grabbed her hand and groped her. They also taunted her about her dressing sense.
The traumatized woman narrated the incident to her husband. On Friday, her husband accompanied her to Matunga and confronted the accused. But far from apologizing, the trio dared the victim and her husband to lodge a complaint against them. The victim then dialled the GRP helpline and got them arrested.
“The victim told us that the trio had been keeping a watch on her for three days and passed lewd remarks at her,” said a police official.
Sources said the railway employees’ union tried to scuttle the matter, but the GRP persisted with lodging the complaint.
