MUMBAI: Despite tall claims that Mumbai’s first metro rail Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar will get railway certification in September to chug-off early next year, it has not yet received the much needed approval of the Research Development and Standards Organization (RDSO) of the Indian Railways.
Also Mumbai’s 20 km monorail will be complete only in 2015 instead of 2014. These facts were revealed by none other than Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan in his written reply on the floor of the house during the winter session of state assembly in Nagpur last month.
Monorail’s second phase from Wadala to Jacob Circle will take at least 18 months from now to be complete, he informed the house at the ongoing winter session of the state legislature here. Though Chavan expected the commissioning of metro in January, he admitted that process to get RDSO certification was still underway.
