सन्त्रगची Santragachi (SRC): Arunendra Kumar, Chairman, Railway Board visited the Coaching Depot and Electric Loco Shed at Santragachi, today. Radhey Shyam, General Manager, South Eastern Railway and Principal Head of the Departments along with Prabhat Sahai, Addl General Manager, Gautam Banerjee, divisional railway manager, Kharagpur and other senior officers of SER accompanied the Chairman, Railway Board.
Immediately after reaching the Santragachi Coaching Maintenance Depot, he enquired about the trains which are maintained at Santragachi and praised the efforts of the SER Officers and staff. He also enquired about the use of bio toilets which are fixed in coaches and was informed that bio-toilet – coaches have been attached to 2 rakes of Howrah-Puri Express and one rake of Howrah-Sambalpur-Jagdalpur Express.
Mr Kumar chose the undergear of the Puri Express to inspect (out of the 4 rakes which were under examination) in the “New Coaching Grid” of Santragachi. He climbed down the stairs into the examination pit underneath the rake of Puri Express and conducted an inspection of the undergears of about 10 coaches.
After the coaching depot, the Chairman Railway Board visited the Electric Loco Shed at Santragachi and inspected the maintenance shed which has a holding of 73 Electric Locomotives which are used to haul passenger & mail/express trains including 5000 HP high powered locos used for hauling Durontos & other express trains.
Earlier in the morning Chairman, Railway Board visited S.E.Railway Central Hospital at Garden Reach and inaugurated a Speciality Clinic Building. He also inspected the Dialysis Unit, the cabins for the patients and the Pathology lab.
