Chandy optimistic on Kochi Metro Rail project, applauds Sreedharan

Kochi:  Expressing satisfaction over the progress of prestigious Kochi Metro Rail project here, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said he was confident that the project would be completed within the scheduled time. Addressing media at Kalamasserry, near here, he said ‘this is for the first time that I am visiting the work site of the metro rail project and after inspecting the progress of the work,I am confident that the first phase of the work will be completed in scheduled time.’

Taking note of the Kerala situation and the precedence, the progress of the metro work was a ‘wonder’ as the state had always faced hiccups well head of starting every project. However, the Metro Project had never faced any such problems or issues, he said.

While entrusting the work with Metroman E Sreedharan, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Adviser, he had promised that the first phase of the work on the 25-km metro rail, connecting Aluva with Thripunithura, would be completed in 1095 days, he said adding that ‘after evaluating the progress of the work after 141 days, I am quite confident that the work would be completed in the remaining 954 days.  “The remaining work on the project was being carried out much more efficiently and I am very much confident that without losing a single day in the scheduled time, the dream of Kerala will materialise in time” he added.
