DRUCC express happiness for plying new Tatanagar-Bhagalpur Weekly train

Kolkata:  The South Eastern Railway’s decision to introduce a weekly express train between Tatanagar and Bhagalpur from October 6 has received praises from the Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) members.

At a meeting of the committee in Chakradharpur on Friday, presided over by DRM Rajeev Agarwal, the members expressed their happiness.

Initially, the train will run for two months. Depending on the response and revenue, the railways will take a decision to regularise it.

Committee member Vijay Anand Moonka, who is also the general secretary of SCCI, said the railway authorities have dropped broad hints at introducing a direct train between Tatanagar and Visakhapatnam later this month.

Extension of working hours of railway booking centres and issues like passenger amenities were also discussed at the meeting, which was attended by several senior officials of Chakradharpur division, including ADRM Basudev Panda and senior divisional commercial manager A.K. Halder.

Moonka suggested that the parking charge outside Tatanagar railway station should be collected from vehicles at the exit and not the entry point.

Committee members also put forward a suggestion to increase the time of railway booking offices in Sakchi, Bistupur and Telco. At present, the offices operate from 8am to 2pm.

The DRM told the 15-member committee that a masterplan for developing Adityapur and Govindpur stations was being sent to the SER headquarters in Kolkata.
