Pune: People travelling in a few autorickshaws and two-wheelers had a close shave when they were trapped at a railway crossing in Kasarwadi, after the gate was reportedly closed by railway staff, before the arrival of Pune-Lonavla local on Thursday evening.
No untoward incidents were reported, as the train was brought to a halt a few metres away from the crossing gate to avoid a tragedy.
While vehicular traffic has been a common scene at the railway crossing, the incident of vehicle trapping has set the warning bells ringing for the administration, say commuters, blaming them for providing poor coordination.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vishwas Pandhare said his department should not be blamed for traffic issues at the Kasarwadi railway crossing.
Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi said he would investigate the matter and work out a solution at the earliest.
