The construction of 25 rail over bridges at a cost of Rs 1053 crores proposed this year is the top priority of state government. This was stated by PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav at a review meeting of UP State Bridge Corporation (UPSBC) on Thursday.
While reviewing the functioning of the Corporation, Yadav said that out of the proposed 25 over bridges, 22 have been approved by the Indian Railways and are expected to be completed by the end of this fiscal.
Among over bridges approved by Indian Railways, five were to be constructed in Lucknow, seven in Moradabad, three in Ghaziabad, two each in Varanasi, Kanpur and Sultanpur and one in the Faizabad region.
“At present, a total of 78 rail over bridges are under construction with an estimated cost of Rs 1749 crore,” Yadav said.
Stressing the importance of the bridges in development by linking remote regions with highways, the PWD minister said that the UPSBC has fixed a target for completion of 30 bridges with less than 60 meter length in the ongoing fiscal.
