RPF Cops nab Diamond Merchant selling Railway Tickets

SURAT: A small-time diamond merchant has been nabbed by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on the charges of black-marketing of the railway tickets from Mahidharpura post office.

Official sources said that the tout-cum-diamond merchant identified as Rameshchandra Babulal Doshi was caught red-handed with four tatkal tickets of various destinations and a small amount of cash during the raid at Mahidhapura post office on Thursday afternoon.

RPF police inspector Gracious Fernandes received information against the diamond mechant for his involvement in selling tatkal tickets in black market.

According to RPF officials, the accused was selling the tickets to the customers deriving profit in the range of Rs 250 to Rs 500 per ticket.

Sources said that the city’s post offices at Mahidhapura and Nanpura have become the hotspots for the touts. The RPF is planning to raid the Nanpura post office as well.
