Couple pushed out of moving train: Human rights panel questions Railway Board

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Friday asked the Railway Board chairman to explain within four weeks reports that a woman was pushed out of a moving train by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and died, a statement said.

An NHRC statement said, “We have taken cognizance (of the matter) after a media report alleged that a woman died when pushed out of a moving train by RPF personnel near Muzaffarnagar on 27 February.”

Media reports said the woman and her husband, both in their 70s, inadvertently boarded the Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express at Muzaffarnagar railway station, though they had tickets for only for a second-class journey and they were bound for Saharanpur.

The RPF policemen allegedly pushed them out of the train while it was still running. The woman died on hitting the ground while her husband suffered injuries.
