EGAH361475Madurai (MDU):  Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) Sathish Kumar Mittal conducted the second round inspection of railway electrification work on Dindigul-Virudhunagar broad gauge section on Wednesday.

Mr.Kumar, along with a special team of technical experts, covered the 110-km distance and checked various parameters to find out whether the electrified track was fit for operation of trains.

He also checked whether the defects detected during his first inspection and trial run were rectified.

In the upward journey, the officials, travelling on the special inspection train pulled by a diesel loco engine up to Virudhunagar, inspected electrification work done at overbridges, signal system and level crossing points.

On the return journey, the special formation was hauled by an electric engine.

Clearance soon

The train was operated at a speed of 100 kmph to study uniform supply of power and voltage stabilisation at all places.

“Everything was okay. The officials have attended to certain defects detected during the first round of inspection conducted on August 21, 2012. Some more data is required to issue clearance certificate. I will issue the certificate within two or three days after which the Southern Railway will operate trains,” Mr.Mittal told press persons after completing his day-long inspection at Dindigul Railway Station.
