Scientific seminar & doctors meet of BR Singh hospital held
कोलकाता Kolkata (KOAA): Dr. M. K. Budhalakoti, Director General, Railway Health Services inaugurated the 44th Annual Scientific Seminar & CME Programme of Eastern Railway’s B R Singh Hospital alongwith 15th Annual Conference of Indian Railway Public Health Association at Eastern Railway, Howrah. R. K. Gupta, General Manager, Eastern Railway and Mr Radheyshyam, General Manager, South Eastern & Metro Railway have graced the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gupta said that B R Singh Hospital plays an important role in the field of medical treatment of Railwaymen. The Annual Scientific Seminar and continued medical education programme help railway doctors to update their knowledge and this type of academic events undoubtedly enhance their clinical acumen and expertise and this would also enrich them with latest information about the scientific inventions in medical science & technology, he added.
Mr Radheshyam, General Manager, South Eastern & Metro Railway said that the conference is the vital arena for thought provoking deliberations on the latest developments of medical science. The best known luminaries in the various sub-specialities of Public Health related to Indian Railways from our country will enlighten us with their dedicated work and vast experience.
Dr Budhalakoti, Director General, Railway Health Services said in his speech that the basic objective of the medical branch of the Indian Railways is to provide best available medical services to the Railwaymen. Discussions and interactions on the latest developments in the field of medical science help the doctors to help the railwaymen more with latest medical facilities, he said.
This conference was being attended by more than 300 Railway doctors and specialists from all over India. The main theme of the scientific seminar was ‘Public health challenges in Indian Railways’.
Dr. J. Swain, Chief Medical Director, Eastern Railway, Dr. Shyam Sunder, Medical Director, B R Singh Hospital, Eastern Railway, Dr. S. Mallik, Organizing Secretary of the programme also spoke on the occasion.
A panel discussion under title ‘OBESITY – A Lifestyle Disease’ was also held at B C Roy Auditorium, Eastern Railway, Sealdah.
