Visakhapatnam (VSKP): To study port infrastructure and frequent complaints of short supply of rakes, Divisional Railway Manager Chandralekha Mukherjee, who assumed charge recently, visited all the private terminals of Visakhapatnam Port on Thursday.
The visit was aimed at reducing the detention of rakes in the port railway system. She also wanted to know the infrastructure available at the port and the connectivity between the railways and the port railway system.
Ms.Mukherjee during her visit said their priority was to reduce detention time of rakes at Visakhapatnam Port. As part of her visit, she spent a lot of time at Vizag Seaport Private Limited, Adani Coal Terminal and Vedanta General Cargo Berth Private Limited and port railway system and the linkage between port and railways.
She was accompanied by Senior Divisional Operational Manager Shammas Hameed, Traffic Manager Satyanarayana and Deputy Traffic Manager (railways) Jayadev Vandanam. VSPL CEO Ragam Kishore explained to her about the terminal’s facilities and rail infrastructure available with them. Vizag trade has been complaining that due short supply of rakes, evacuation of cargo is getting hampered.
