Augment coaches on trains originating from city, says MP
Visakhapatnam (VSKP): Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair, Chandralekha Mukherjee met Visakhapatnam MP K Haribabu here Monday and discussed various developmental issues related to the Waltair Railway Division.
During the discussions, the MP stressed the high need to control dust pollution in and around Visakhapatnam Port. Haribabu said that he would convene a meeting soon with the officials of Vizag Port Trust and Railways to sort out the issue of dust pollution which is harming the residents of the city. The duo also discussed increasing the supply of rakes to VPT and Steel Plant in order to meet the growing demand.
Provision of Additional Coaches (augmentation) to various trains, development of Duvvada Railway Station and Vista-doom coaches to Araku Valley train were also discussed in the meeting, apart from the long pending demands of creation of separate Zonal Railway at Vizag as Headquarters.
MP has urged DRM, East Coast Railway, Waltair, Chandralekha Mukherjee, to increase the allocation of rakes to the steel plant and the port, and also augment coaches on trains originating from the city.
Mr. Haribabu expressed his happiness over the halt provided to Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad Garib Rath at Duvvada. He sought halt for the Visakhapatnam-LTT Express too at Duvvada.
Provision of additional coaches wherever feasible, especially for originating trains such as Ratnachal Intercity Express, Janmabhoomi Intercity Express, and Tirumala Express, and Prasanthi Express were discussed. The DRM said that efforts would be made to augment general coaches on all important trains.
The MP also urged Ms. Chandralekha Mukherjee to make efforts to develop Duvvada railway station to meet the growing demand of the people of the industrial area.
In order to develop tourism in the Visakhapatnam–Araku sector, Mr. Haribabu urged the official to monitor the progress of Vista-dome (see-through) coaches with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation for early implementation of the project. The MP said that he would soon convene a meeting with officials of the Visakhapatnam Port Trust and the Railways to find a permanent solution to the dust pollution in and around the areas of the port, a press release said.
