Eastern Railway reports 14.92 MT loading of industrial goods in April-June 2015

In particular, the increase in loading was led by a 180% jump in steel loading from the newly modernized IISCO steel plant in Burnpur

Kolkata (KOAA): Eastern Railway has shown significant growth in loading of industrial goods to 14.92 million tonne during the first quarter of the current financial year (April – June, 2015) compared to the previous corresponding quarter.

Loading of commodities which have registered considerable improvement during the 1st quarter of the current financial year are Steel, Stone, Fly Ash, Cement, Vegetable Oil etc. In particular, the increase in loading was led by a 180% jump in steel loading from the newly modernized IISCO steel plant in Burnpur.

The total freight loading in ER during April to June, 2015 reached 14.921 mt. Loading of Iron & Steel has shown an increment of 24.71 % , Cement loading increased by 3.94 %, other goods loading including stone increased by 10.08 %, while the  loading of CIL (Coal India Ltd) coal by E. Rly shown an increase of 16.92% during April to June, 2015 in comparison to that of during the corresponding period of previous year. A statement by the Eastern Railway said while total freight loading reached 14.921 million tonne in the April-June quarter of 2015, loading of iron & steel went up 24.71 %.

Cement loading increased by 3.94 %, while loading of other goods loading including stone, increased by 10.08 %. Loading of coal by Coal India Ltd also showed an increase of 16.92% during the April-June quarter compared to the previous corresponding quarter.
