ECoR boasts uninterrupted performance, extends service

Bhubaneswar (BBS): Even as dense fog situation has badly affected the air service to the northern parts of the country, including New Delhi, the railways have managed to run its important trains providing relief and communication linkage to thousands of people despite the adverse weather conditions, claimed a senior official in East Coast Railway (ECoR) here.

According to the official, important north-bound trains such as the Rajdhani Express trains, along with the Purusottam Express trains , the Kalinga Utkal Express trains, the Neelachal Express trains and the Nandankanan Express trains have also been run without any break, albeit with slight modification in schedule as and when necessitated by unavoidable reasons.

“Rajdhani Express trains, from Bhubaneswar to New Delhi, have been run every single day this winter season, in spite of heavy fog in northern India. At a time when cancellation of flights by the airlines operators has become quite regular, the Indian Railways have run this important train without fail despite facing real difficulties such as delaying in arrival of link trains,” he said, while lauding the efforts of the workforce involved in maintenance and operations at Bhubaneswar.

Claiming that running of the trains, without resorting to any cancellation, has endeared ECoR to its customers, the official informed that they had to reschedule by a few hours the Rajdhani Express on some unavoidable occasions.

“From 1st December, 2013, to 20 January, 2014, the Rajdhani Express trains have been rescheduled only eight times in December and six times in January,” he informed.

It may be mentioned here that ECoR has already issued two advisories this winter season, reiterating its commitment to run trains safely during heavy fog even if it means some delay to the trains.
