ECOR conducts Mock Drills on Railway Accident

Raghunathpur रघुनाथपुर (RPR): With a view to alerting Railway Emergency staff, a Mock Accident Drill was organized at Raghunathpur station in Cuttack-Paradeep railway section under Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railway yesterday. As per the instructions of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) & High Power Committee of Railways to check the preparedness for Rescue operation during untoward incidents in Railway premises, the mock drill was organized without the knowledge of Railway emergency staff.

An alarm was sounded o­n the morning of 26thMarch that two coaches of a Summer Pilgrim Special have derailed at Raghunathpur Railway station in which many passengers were affected & there was loss of life & property to the passengers. More than 200 Railway staff & officers immediately rushed to the site and conducted the Rescue operation within a short span of time with the help of National Disaster Response Force of Mundali, Local Villagers, GRP, NGOs, etc.

The mock drill of rescue operation was directly monitored by Shri S. K. Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road. Sri J. Nagesh Babu, Sr. Divisional Safety Officer of Khurda Road Division coordinated the programme.

Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager Shri H.L.Luwang and other officers of Railways along with Shri M. K. Yadav, Commandant of National Disaster Response Force at Mundali also participated in the mock drill.
