Delang (DEG): With the Nabakalebara festival only about a year away, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) is targeting to complete the Delang-Puri double line work well in advance.
General Manager of ECoR Rajiv Vishnoi, who reviewed the progress of the high-priority project, has asked the heads of departments to place infrastructure development on the fast track for early completion of the project.
The meeting revealed that contracts for earth work, major as well as minor bridges, electrification works for the double line have already been issued and works have commenced.
Earth works between Delanga-Sakhigopal and Sakhigopal-Puri are currently in progress. Similarly, work on major bridges have started and are in different stages of completion. Of 29 minor bridges in Delanga-Sakhigopal section, 26 have been completed while three are in different stages of completion, the meeting revealed.
Besides the doubling work, crucial ancillary activities like signal and telecom data log room and engineering goomty (covered shelter) near Delang are in full swing.
Similarly, a new booking counter, medium-level platform including platform shed at Jenapur, extension of existing three platforms, construction of foot over bridge (FOB), additional platform shelter, data log room, signaling and engineering goomty at Birapurusottampur have commenced too.
At Sakhigopal, new platforms, connecting road to station, remodelling of waiting hall, extension and remodelling of platform shelter and FOB at Sakhigopal including passenger amenities at different stations between Delang and Puri are also moving at a good speed. Apart from doubling work between Delanga and Puri, related project works such as upgradation of Puri, Khurda Road and Malatipatapur railway stations, road over bridges, limited height subways and Khurda Road station bypass for smooth train operations during the period are also being taken up. Vishnoi has asked his HoDs to ensure that these works are finished on time.
The General Manager said Ministry of Railways has assured of providing adequate funds in 2014-15 financial year for completion of the projects.
All related works for construction of the doubling project are underway in full swing and efforts are being made to complete the doubling work upto Puri well before Nabakalebar in 2015, he said.
