ECoR wins 51st All India Railway Ball Badminton Championship for Men 2015-16

Secunderabad: East Coast Railway clinched the Winners Trophy at the 51st All India Railway Ball Badminton Championship for  Men hosted by South Central Railway at Railway Sports Complex, Secunderabad.

In the final, East Coast Railway, lead by its Captain Mr. Satyanarayana was leading with 6 points all throuth the game and finally  defeated  South Central Railway, lead by Mr. Srinivas Reddy,   with 35-26;  33-35; 35-29.  Ch. Vengal Rao help escalate the points for East Coast Railway while Srinivas Reddy did it for S.C. Railway.

In all, seven teams representing the host, South Central Railway Secunderabad; Western Railway, Mumbai; South Eastern Railway, Kolkata; Integral Coach Factory, Chennai;  Southern Railway, Chennai; South Western Railway, Hubli and East Coast Railway, Bhubaneshwar have participated in the Championship.

After handing over the Championship Trophy to the winners, Shri Ravindra Gupta, GM / SCR congratulated the winners and appreciated all other teams for their team spirit. Ball Badminton which is played predominantly in South India should be promoted in all India level, he desired.

Shri Gajanan Mallya, President, SCR Sports Association, while addressing the participants, said that Ball Badminton is officially recognised game in India and it is a fast-paced game which demands skill, quick reflexes, good judgement and ability to control the ball.
