ECR implements Policy of Confirmed Journey Ticket Transfer

Hajipur (HJP): The East Central Railway (ECR) has implemented the new railway commercial policy in all its five divisions with regard to transfer of the confirmed journey ticket in the name of any blood relation of the same gender in the family.

According to ECR CPRO Amitabh Prabhakar, Railway Board has, of late, formulated the new policy under which a kin of the family member in the same gender is now entitled to travel in case h/she does not intend to undertake journey on the confirmed booked ticket at the last moment. He said this has given much relief to those passengers who have to seek refund of their tickets in case of cancellation of their journey at the eleventh hour.

The CPRO said though this facility is now available for the kin in the family like father, mother, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters, the passenger reservation system (PRS) counters in the ECR would entertain an application for transfer of the ticket at least 24 hours prior to the train departure. The transferee is, however, required to submit a photocopy of his or her identity proof with age mentioned therein to get the ticket transferred in his/her name, he said.

According to sources, the new policy envisages same facilities to members of any institution or marriage party. However, they should approach PRS counters through station manager or chief reservation supervisor of any station at least 24 hours before the train departure with the required documents for the change or transfer of the ticket in the name of others, sources said.

According to Danapur PRO R K Singh, this facility has evoked a good response at Patna Junction and other PRS counters benefitting the needy passengers. Railways is counselling people to create awareness among them about the newly introduced railway commercial policy, he said.
