ECR implements Policy on Transfer of Railway Tickets

पटना Patna (PNBE): With a view to making journey more comfortable for passengers, the East Central Railway (ECR) has fully implemented the new commercial policy under all its five divisions with regard to transfer of the confirmed journey ticket in the name of any blood relation of the same gender category in the family.

A Railway Board official said this facility has evoked good response across the country. Railways, which was finding it difficult to refund the confirmed tickets, is now allowing the passenger to transfer it in the name of his or her blood relation checking the activities of touts to some extent, he said. ECR CPRO Arvind Rajak said Railway Board recently formulated a new policy under which a kin of same gender of the passenger having confirmed ticket is now entitled to travel in case he cancels his journey, he said, adding this facility is available at all major stations including Patna Junction.

The new policy has given relief to those passengers who have to seek refund of their tickets in case of cancellation of their journey programme at the last moment.

This facility is now available to the kin including father, mother, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters and passenger reservation system (PRS) counters in the ECR are entertaining applications for transfer of the ticket at least 24 hours prior to the departure of the train, Rajak said.

The applicant is, however, required to submit a photocopy of his or her identity proof with age mentioned therein to get the ticket transferred in his or her name.

The new policy is also available to members of any institution or marriage party. However, they should approach PRS counters through station manager or chief reservation supervisor of any station at least 24 hours before departure of the train with the required documents for the change or transfer of the ticket in the name of others, sources said.
