Electric Traction Inspection on Villupuram-Vellore section completed

विल्लुपुरम Villupuram (VM): Commissioner of Railway Safety (CSR) of Bangalore Circle S K Mittal commenced a two-day inspection of the 25,000 volts electric traction provided in Villupuram-Vellore Cantonment section.

Mittal began the inspection in diesel loco from Vellore Cantonment on Wednesday. He inspected the outside and inside curves, bridge mast, railway over bridge (ROB), relay rooms, isolator operation, engineering gang, FOB, level crossing gates, power line crossing and short circuit test along the section, said the railway authorities.

On Thursday, he will contact the current collecting test by using electric loco. He would start from Villupuram and conclude it in Vellore, added the officials.

Public cautioned

The Southern Railway on Wednesday cautioned the public living along the railway track in Villupuram-Vellore Cantonment section not to venture close to the railway track.

The public are warned that no person should come in contact with high voltage AC traction within two metres. They should not stretch any pole or material or come in contact with overhead installations, which is highly dangerous, said a release.

“The drivers and road users are requested to be extra cautious at unmanned and manned level crossings in the section. Vehicles should not be overloaded with goods which make them come in close contact with high voltage AC traction lines,” the release added.
