Visakhapatnam (VSKP): With the soil testing activities already underway, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Social Impact Assessment (SIA) studies will be conducted for the Visakhapatnam Metro rail project from Tuesday. Hyderabad-based SGS India Consultants will take up the assessment activities.
In the study, the team of consultants would be conducting several discussions and public meetings at around six or seven places here where the three corridors of Metro rail project had been proposed. The studies are expected to conclude by April 10.
Meanwhile, the soil testing activities for the Project already started on March 19. Jaipur-based company CEG Consultants started the process at NAD Junction, conducting tests for every 1 to 1.5 km. The activities are to be done in the proposed three corridors of the metro project.
Meanwhile, a team of electrical engineers from DMRC head office would be arriving on March 26 here, to discuss power supply and visit the corridors for incorporating the data in the DPR which is estimated to be completed by May-end and in turn submitted to the government.
The three corridors are Madhurawada to NAD Junction, Gurdwara Junction to Old Post Office via RTC Complex, Jagadamba and Thatichetlapalem Junction to East Point rest house via Railway station, Asilmetta, Siripuram and AU Out Gate.
The soil testing activities are estimated to end by April 15. Hyderabad-based Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers and Consultants Private Limited and other consultants have already performed some surveys on traffic, topography and household, data entry and analysation works in January and February.
