THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed from 29 th October, 2018 to 3rd November, 2018 over Indian Railways. The theme for the Vigilance Awareness this year is “Eradicate Corruption-Build a New India”. The valedictory function of the Vigilance Awareness Week of the Tiruchchirappalli Division of Southern Railway was held today (02.11.2018) at the Multi Disciplinary Zonal Training Institute, Tiruchchirappalli. Shri R. Aaivu, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchchirappalli was the Chief Guest on the occasion and distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions held during the Vigilance Awareness Week.
The observance of Vigilance Awareness Week in Tiruchchirappalli Division began with taking of pledge on 29th October, 2018 in the Divisional Office. Shri P. Udaya Kumar Reddy, Divisional Railway Manager, administered the pledge to the Railway officers and Staff assembled. The objective of the Vigilance Awareness Week is to bring about alertness amongst the public and government employees through participative and pro-active vigilance management, to bring down the menace of corruption to zero.
During the Vigilance Awareness Week, Shri Prem Chandra Harijan, Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer/Signal & Telecommunications/Hqrs, Shri R.K.Meena, Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer/Engineering/HQrs from Chennai participated in the Seminar and sensitised the officers and staff on the subject. Following points were put forward in the seminar:
- The need for approaching every transaction in Railways with a vigilant view because it involves public money.
- It stressed that every officer is a vigilance officer, if they acted within their Schedule of Powers by applying wisdom in judgement as well as with the proper recording of their decisions in the files.
Various case studies to give a clear understanding on the importance of following the directions and procedure specified to prevent the corruption were highlighted. Case studies on Commercial, Stores, Electrical, Mechanical, Signal & Telecommunications and Accounts Department were discussed during the seminar.
Besides the regular activities of display of banners and posters, various competitions for railway staff, trainees and school children and mime by the trainees of Zonal Training Institute at the Tiruchchirappalli Railway Station were also conducted during the week long period to create awareness. Senior railway officers of the division, Officers and staff in large numbers participated during the week long activities.
Eradicate Corruption – Build a New India, Vigilance Awareness Week, 2018 observed by Secunderabad and Hyderabad Divisions
Vigilance Awareness Week 2018 is being observed from 29th October to 3rd November 2018, on the theme of “ERADICATE CORRUPTION – BUILD A NEW INDIA” jointly by Secunderabad and Hyderabad Divisions.
Shri Ashesh Agrawal, Senior Deputy General Manager & Chief Vigilance Officer, SCR, participated in the programme as Chief Guest on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Celebrations held at Gulistan Auditorium, Hyderabad Bhavan today i.e, 02nd November, 2018. Shri Amit Varadan, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad and Sri Arun Kumar Jain, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad also attended the programme.
Winners of Quiz, essay and painting competitions have been awarded prizes during vigilance awareness programme. Officers and staff of Secunderabad and Hyderabad Divisions have attended this programme in large number. A skit was played by the employees of Electric Loco Shed, Lallaguda, which was very apt on the theme.
During the week, posters and banners on vigilance management have been displayed at offices and prominent places in various mass contact areas such as Ticket booking offices, parcel offices etc.
