Explosives found near railway tracks in Birbhum

SURI: Railway police seized 25 detonators and five gelatin sticks (in picture) from near the railway tracks at Salisanda village on Saturday morning. The area where the explosives were found is located between Lohapur and Moregram stations. However, cops said that seizure of such explosive was nothing new in this area.

A senior police officer pointed out that explosives are usually smuggled from different places and used mainly at numerous stonemines spread over the western part of Birbhum. “But we’ll investigate how these explosives were brought here because it can be used for other purposes by insurgents and anti-socials,” he added.
