It is available at all metro stations and at branches of Federal Bank
Bangalore (SBC): Federal Bank on Monday launched a transit-cum-debit card in partnership with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). It is called ‘Fed Flash Debit-cum-Transit Card’. It is a combination of a debit card and a smart card for travel on Namma Metro.
The debit account is separate from the transit card, which needs to be re-charged for metro travel. The bank has enabled re-charging at its ATM kiosks, which would be set up at all Metro stations, through net banking and mobile banking. The recharge value ranges from Rs. 100 to Rs. 1,000. Special discounts ranging from 15 percent to 21 percent are available for users of the flash card.
The bank has designed it as an insta-card so that anybody can avail the same on the spot after submitting the required documents. It is available at all metro stations and at the 1,135 branches of Federal Bank across the country.
Ashutosh Khajuria, president (treasury) of Federal Bank, launched the card. The bank is proud of its partnership with BMRCL and it is a win-win situation for both the bank and BMRCL while customers benefited the most, he said. Pradeep Singh Kharola, Managing Director, BMRCL said that the main attraction of Namma Metro is saving in travel time.
During rush hours, the waiting time to take the metro tokens sometimes exceeds the travel time. “Federal Bank’s initiative of a Flash card is a step in the right direction for BMRCL, as it is aimed at eliminating the wait time and thereby enable seamless travel and convergence of payment options,” he said.
