Yesvantpur Jn (YPR): An Assistant Foreigners’ Regional Registration Officer (AFRRO) was attacked outside the Yeshwantpur railway station at the pre-paid autorickshaw stand following an argument with autorickshaw drivers on Saturday morning.
Janardhan Zalki, posted at the Kozhikode FRRO, reached the railway station around 8am after getting off the Kannur-Yeshwantpur train. He went to the pre-paid stand to hire an autorickshaw to go to his relative’s house in Kurubarahalli, off Mahalakshmi Layout in North Bangalore.
When he saw the slip issued at the pre-paid counter, he asked the person why it cost so much. He wanted the autorickshaw to put on the meter and that triggered an argument with the drivers waiting there and a scuffle followed. Zalki told Yeshwantpur police, “I was pushed around by the group of autorickshaw drivers.”
Police said, “Zalki told us the aggressive behaviour of the drivers was so scary that he had to withdraw from the argument and rush to the police station to lodge a complaint.” Police registered a case under Section 323 (simple assault).
