General Manager, Southern Railway conduct Annual Inspection in Chennai Division

CHENNAI: Shri R.K. Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway conducted annual inspection of Chennai Division and reviewed the Division’s performance.  Shri Naveen Gulati, Divisional Railway Manager of Chennai Division, Principal Heads of Departments, other officers and staff accompanied the General Manager.

Katpadi, Tiruvalam, Mukundarayapuram, Walajah Road and Kanchipuram railway stations in   Katpadi – Arakkonam – Chengalpattu section were inspected.

At Katpadi, Shri R.K. Kulshrestha inspected various facilities viz., the railway colony, Track Machine Rest Room, Renovated Running Room, etc.  He also inspected the high speed LAN facility and the Health Unit at Katpadi.

Later, the General Manager, along with the team of officers, inspected a level crossing between Katpadi – Sevur in Katpadi – Arakkonam section. He also interacted with the track Maintainers.

At Mukundarayapuram, Shri R.K. Kulshrestha inspected the working of a Track Machine.  He also inspected the newly built Gang Rest Room and interacted with the Gang-men at Mukundarayapuram. Furthermore, he received their feedback on field conditions.

At Walajah Road, the General Manager inspected Points and Crossings and also inspected the working of USFD.  A level crossing between Walajah Road – Thalangai was also inspected.

Moreover, a speed trail was conducted from Thalangai to Arakkonam.

As the inspection progressed from Arakkonam towards Chengalpattu, a major bridge between Tirumalpur – Kanchipuram was inspected.  This was followed by an inspection of Kanchipuram railway station.  The General Manager also inspected an important curve between Kanchipuram – Walajabad and a  minor bridge between Palur – Villiyambakkam.

The General Manager interacted with Passenger Associations and commuters at various railway stations and received their representations and assured that their grievances will be looked into.

Shri R.K. Kulshrestha also addressed the Print and Visual Media at Katpadi and detailed them about the developments taking place in Southern Railway and Chennai Division.  He also briefed them about the progress of the various developmental projects in the region.

During the course of inspection, the General Manager declared cash awards to outstanding employees and distributed merit certificates on the spot.
