Secunderabad (SC): P.K.Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway called upon the Divisional Engineers of the Zone to gear up themselves in improving the Passenger amenities at the earliest.Ministry of Railways in its recent budget has given major push by giving substantial funds for the betterment of passenger & staff amenities and hence there should not be any delay in this regard, reiterated Shri Srivastava while addressing the inaugural session of two day Senior Divisional Engineers Coordinator’s Conference held today i.e., 7th May, 2015 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad.
Shri P.K. Srivastava appreciated the entire team of Divisional Engineers and staff involved in ensuring track availability and track maintenance besides reducing rail and weld failures on the Zone. Reduction in rail and weld failures is the major factor that got appreciations from the Railway Board and achieved National level Civil Engineering Efficiency Shield from the Ministry of Railways to SCR, he added. This year the Railway Board has enhanced the loading target by 10% for the Zone. Optimising track availability is the need of the hour.This can be achieved by reducing rail and weld failures, better terminal management, improving speeds, better controlling, efficient use of the train crew, better asset management and better signalling, said the General Manager.
Earlier, Shri P.K. Srivastava released a book titled ‘Monsoon 2015’ an action plan for cyclone-weather warnings brought out jointly by Engineering, Operating & Electrical departments. Shri Umesh Singh, Addl. General Manager, Shri S.N. Singh, Principal Chief Engineer and other PHODs of the Zone were amongst the Officials present.
Later, senior civil engineers of the Zone presented their papers on various subjects such as eliminating weld failures, closure of unmanned level crossings etc.
