AMARAVATI: Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, South Central Railway made a visit to Vijayawada today i.e., 16th July, 2018. The General Manager held a meeting with Neerabh Kumar Prasad, Special Chief Secretary, Transport, Roads & Buildings, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh at AP Secretariat, Velagapudi, Amaravati. He also met Dinesh Kumar, Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh and Satish Chandra, Special Chief Secretary to Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. R. Dhananjayulu, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division and Vijay Pratap Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division accompanied the General Manager.
The General Manager,SCR comprehensively discussed on the progress of ongoing and new Railway projects in Andhra Pradesh during the meeting. Works related to new rail line, electrification, station redevelopment, cost sharing of railway projects, elimination of Unmanned Level Crossings (UMLCs), construction of Road Over Bridge (ROB) / Road Under Bridge (RUB) in AP State were reviewed in detail. The General Manager briefed the AP State Government Officials on the priority being accorded to the rail infrastructure works in the State and the budgetary allocations being extended for the purpose.
Sri Vinod Kumar Yadav informed that the Station Redevelopment plan for Tirupati is under implementation at a cost of Rs 400 crore and bids have already been invited for the same. He highlighted the conceptual modernization plan envisaged for the redevelopment of the Railway Station. The General Manager also detailed the plans drawn up for redevelopment of Nellore Railway Station. On the progress of Nadikudi – Sri Kalahasti New Railway line works, the General Manager informed that plans are afoot to complete the Piduguralla – Rompicherla section to a length of around 46 kms in 2018 – 19. The meeting also reviewed the areas requiring further coordination between the Railways and the State Government.
Earlier during the day, the General Manager visited Electric Traction Training Centre (ETTC) at Vijayawada and inaugurated the newly constructed hostel meant for trainees. He inspected a latest loco motive model (WAG 7) at the Centre, which highlights the trouble shooting areas, the first of its kind facility for trainees on Indian Railways. Vinod Kumar Yadav also visited the Divisional Integrated Training Centre (DITC) and inaugurated the Air Conditioned Dining Hall at the Railway Institute, Satyanarayanapuram which is popularly utilized by the railway employees for various functions. The General Manger rounded up his visit by holding an interaction with officers of various departments of Vijayawada Division at the Divisional Office and briefed them on the priority areas for the zone. He stressed on safety and punctuality of rail services as foremost.
