GM/NFR Conducts Annual Inspection of Katihar Division

Maligaon (MVG):  Shri R.S.Virdi, General Manager, N.F.Railway conducted the Annual Inspection of Katihar Division o­n 6thJanuary, 2014 along with his team comprising of senior officers from the Headquarters, the Divisional Railway Manager of Katihar and the Divisional Officers. The 107 kms long Siliguri Junction – Thakurganj – Aluabari Road– Kishanganj section was inspected.

The General Manager’s Annual Inspection is an age old tradition of the Indian Railways wherein the complete Railway Infrastructure in o­ne section in each of the Divisions is inspected thoroughly and improvements required for the betterment of the quality of service being provided to the public is assessed.

In course of this inspection, the Siliguri Junction, Naksalbari, Thakurganj, Aluabari Road and Kishanganj stations were inspected. The General Manager inaugurated a Running Room with modern facilities (Mahananda Running Room) for Loco Pilots and the Teesta Rest House at New Jalpaiguri. At Siliguri, an OfficeBuilding at the Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) maintenance complex and a Control Room for the Integrated Security System (ISS) at the station were inaugurated. The General Manager also inaugurated  New Community Centres at Thakurganj and Kishanganj and the new station building with circulating area with a locomotive displayed at Kishanganj.

Shri A. K. Sharma, Divisional Railway Manager of Katihar highlighted the various achievements of his Division during the current financial year. Outward goods booking rake points have been opened at 4 stations – Ranipatra and Jalalgarh o­n the Katihar – Jogbani section, Surajkamal o­n the Dalkhola – Kishanganj section and Raiganj o­n the Barsoi – Radhikapur section. National Train Enquiry System (NTES) has been commissioned at Katihar, Jogbani,  Kishanganj and Purnea stations. 26 un-manned Level Crossing gates have been manned during this financial year. About `42 lakhs have been realised as fines and excess fares in course of 81 ticket checking drives conducted by the division.
