GM/SCR inaugurates “Automatic Coach Paint Booth” at Carriage and Wagon Workshop

SECUNDERABAD: Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, South Central Railway inaugurated the “Automatic Coach Paint Booth System” at the Carriage Workshop, Lallaguda, Secunderabad  today i.e., 20th March, 2017. He inspected the Lallaguda Carriage Workshop to study the work practices being maintained here.

The Carriage Workshop, Lallaguda has modernized its painting system from conventional brush painting to the Automatic Coach Paint Booth System at a cost of Rs. 6.4 Crores. A full rail coach is placed in the paint booth and painted automatically. The baking oven system facilitates quick drying, thus enabling significant reduction of cycle time for coach painting. This is an eco-friendly painting system, wherein, air & ground pollution and wastage of paint is avoided apart from significant saving in manpower.

Vinod Kumar Yadav inspected FIAT Bogie Unit, Wheel Shop, Carriage Shop, Air Brake Unit, CBC Section during the inspection. He planted saplings in the premises of the Workshop as part of Eco-Friendly management of the environs.

The General Manager congratulated the Workshop for achieving the distinction of being the first Railway Workshop on Indian Railways to receive the prestigious “GreenCo – Silver Rating” Certification awarded by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on 14th March, 2017.

P.U.K.Reddy, Chief Workshop Manager explained the improvements, history of the Workshop, workflow , manpower and innovations in the workshop through a Power Point Presentation. Shri Arjun Mundiya, Chief Mechanical Engineer, Shri K.P.Somkuwar, Chief Workshop Engineer, SCR, Shri Hem Singh Banoth, Sr. Electronic Data Processing Manager and other Officials accompanied the General Manager.
