
SECUNDERABAD: The Performance Efficiency of South Central Railway in various spheres of operations during the year 2016-17 met recognition at National Level on Indian Railways, with the Zone bagging a record 5 All India Performance Efficiency Shields, to put it on the first place, ahead of all other Zones. Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister for Railways presented the shields to Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, SCR on the occasion of 62nd Railway Week National Awards function held today i.e., 22nd April, 2017 at Sri Sathya Sai Sowbhagyam, Centre for Human Development, Raipur, Chattisgarh. The glittering function was also attended by Shri A.K.Mital, Chairman and other members of the Railway Board.

The 5 Performance Efficiency Shields awarded for SCR were for Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environment & Cleanliness and Stores Departments. The concerned Principal Heads of the Departments on SCR joined the General Manager to receive the awards.

Two of SCR’s Officials, Dr. J.Allwyn, Dy. Chief Operations Manager/Freight and Shri P.V.Sai Prasad, Sr. Divisional Engineer/Co-ordination/Hyderabad Division are also amongst the recipients of the Individual Annual Railway National Awards for 2017.

In his address on the occasion, Shri Suresh Prabhu said that Indian Railways should fulfil the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister. New measures need to be taken up to implement new ideas on Indian Railways, he stressed. The Rail Minister called for all departments to work together and address challenges, so as to succeed. He also laid stress on Safety and Punctuality of train services, as a critical input.

Indian Railways is going in for joint ventures with State Governments and funds are no more a constraint for under taking rail projects, the Minister added. Congratulating the awardees, Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu reiterated that all the rail personnel should continue to discharge duties with devotion and act responsibly.
