Through Rakshak Scheme security personnel who are on duty in the running trains will be linked with the railway police control rooms.
Railway police is taking this project initially as a pilot project and the project has been launched from Allahabad Division of railway police.
The superintendent of Government Railway Police (GRP) R K Bhardwaj told that Mobile SIM based security service”Rakshak” will enable the on board security staff to keep in touch with concerned area rail police control room.
The prescribed Sim will be allotted to train wise to the escorts on duty and the concerned security persons will be in constant touch with the software enabled control room and monitoring personnel of control rooms would be able to track the train and security staffs continuously .
The superintended of railway police said that in this first phase, 20 trains have been identified for this rakshak scheme.
Some of the trains are Prayagraj Express, Shivganga Express, Trevni Express, Sampurna kranti Express, Purshottam Express and other trains running through Allahabad Railway Division.
Under this security system, not only railway police or escorts personnel will be in touch but the Rail Drivers, Coach Conductors, TTEs, and Train Guards could also use this facility in any case related to security or other emergency issue from the running trains.
Common rail passengers who are on board at the time, they could also take help from railway police control room through this “Rakshak scheme.”
The Railway Police is hopeful that this technology based service will strengthen the security system on rails and soon be implemented in other rail divisions also.
