Heavy rains in Kashmir bring trains to a halt – Banihal-Qazigund rail service suspended

Srinagar: The heavy rainfall has caused flooding of tracks leading to the suspension of rail services between Banihal area of Jammu and Qazigund belt of Kashmir Valley, rail officials said. Kashmir is on flood alert after the Jhelum crossed the danger mark earlier on Wednesday.  Rail service between Banihal and Qazigund was suspended on Thursday after railway track was damaged by water logging near Hillar. Over one dozen landslides and shooting stone incidents blocked the highway after heavy overnight rains, reports said.
