नई दिल्ली New Delhi: Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu sought inputs from experts to help bring down Railway energy costs by 20-25%.
He sought ideas from industry experts, to help him prepare the Railway Budget factoring in reduced costs, while addressing the 13th Petro India Conference, organised by the India Energy Forum and ORF.
Prabhu noted the high cost the Railways incurs, asking for concrete suggestions to be sent within a week, to help him ‘prepare the Budget as well’.
The Railways is one of the major consumers of diesel and electricity in the country. Under his stewardship, the ministry has already began an energy audit, to collect details of energy consumption, seeking ways to reduce the cost incurred.
The minister has been aiming at turning around the fortunes of the Railways and has sought suggestions from its largest customer base, the common man, to offer suggestions regarding the Railway Budget being prepared for the upcoming fiscal, with the deadline ending on Friday.
