LC Gates position and Railway signalling systems at various Stations inspected
Vijayawada (BZA): Sanjiv Garg, advisor (safety), Railway Board, has emphasised upon the need to interact with the staff engaged in train operations to find out their problems in implementing safety-related instructions and orders issued by the Railway Board.
A high-level safety team, headed by Sanjiv Garg, inspected Machilipatnam, Pedana and Gudivada railway stations, unmanned level-crossing (Gate No. 24) at Gudivada and unmanned level-crossing near Pedana, a bridge at Budameru at Singhnagar, crew lobby and a running room at the Vijayawada Railway Station Friday.
The team enquired about the aspects of their work culture and said that the loco pilots and assistant loco pilots need to adhere to safety rules failing which it may cause accidents leading to loss of life, damage to railway property and slowing down of train operations. Sanjiv Garg also enquired the station masters and other railway staff about various aspects and interacted with the train crew.
Vijaya Laxmi Koushik, executive director (Safety-I), New Delhi, also inspected the Running Room at Vijayawada. She said that the pilots and assistant loco pilots were the main assets of the Railways and they need to be looked after well. Adequate rest should be ensured before they begin their duty so that they will be alert and cautious while they perform their duties.
Om Prakash, Executive Director (Safety-II), Alok Kumar, Executive Director, Safety (Electrical) and Ashish Kumar, Executive Director, (Safety) (Engineering), took part in inspection in the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam section. NSR Prasad, ADRM, M Prasad, Sr DSO, Vijayawada Division and branch officers of the division accompanied the safety team.
