Howrah-Kharagpur-Chakradharpur sections restored: Trains back on track after 2 days

Train services on Howrah-Kharagpur and Kharagpur-Chakradharpur sections of South Eastern Railway (SER) were restored on Monday after two days of disruption due to a rail traffic block for installing girders of a road overbridge near Bagnan station.

Officials at SER Headquarters, Kolkata, said all three girders at Bagnan on Howrah-Kharagpur section were installed on Sunday.

“Work was executed well before deadline,” said an official.

Sources at Tatanagar enquiry counter confirmed all Howrah-bound trains, including Steel Superfast Express and Janshatabdi Express ran on schedule on Monday.

Railway sources said passengers bound for Tatanagar and Kharagpur, who were on Mumbai-Howrah Mail, Pune-Howrah Azad Hind Express and LTT-Howrah Jnaneswari Express were told during the journey that the trains would get diverted on Sunday.

Nearly 350 of these passengers got down at Chakradharpur on Sunday. A special train, which ran between Chakradharpur and Kharagpur, ferried 300 to their destinations. The rest were put up in Jagdalpur-Howrah Express.
