ICF produces record 1622 coaches in 2013-2014

Perambur (PER): Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Perambur, Chennai produced a record number of 1,622 coaches, surpassing the target laid down by ministry of railways for 2013-14.

The factory produced 53 variants, including self-propelled coaches, Linke Hofemann Burke (LHB) coaches, AC coaches and sleeper and other non-AC coaches. ICF started producing high-speed bogies.

A statement from the factory said production involved high technological inputs, meticulous planning and execution and continued harmonious industrial relations.

The factory has been meeting the production target in the last few years and is now gearing up to make LHB coaches. The railways is planning to adopt LHB coaches.

ICF made 164 self-propelled coaches, including diesel EMUs for Jammu and Kashmir and suburban trains for Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation and Southern Railway.

It also manufactured 25 LHB coaches, 248 airconditioned coaches, 1,185 non-airconditioned coaches for express and passenger trains.
