Indian Railways plan to mitigate boarding woes

Railway officials have deputed a RPF officer and a station master to ensure that passengers are able to board the Thiruvananthapuram-bound Janshatabdi Express at the Ernakulam South Railway Station, without any hassles.

The decision comes after the incident on Sunday when the train departed from the station leaving hundreds of passengers in the platform. The irked passengers on the train had pulled the chain to let the other passengers in.

The hustle between the train guard and passengers later led to a delay of more than twenty minutes at the station.

Many passengers alleged that the incident was caused by a lack of halting time at the station.

Railway officials have said that it was not possible to make any immediate changes in the stoppage time of the train as it would involve a complete overhaul of the system.
